Welcome to this study. This is a web-based experiment that examines the impact of philosophical passages on action.

What is the purpose of these studies?
These studies aim at understanding how reading texts can impact action.
What will these studies involve?
You'll be asked to attentively read a passage and complete a scale.
What is the duration of these studies?
The total duration is approximately 5-10 minutes.
a) do not proceed if you are not a fluent English speaker;
b) do not have breaks in between the survey questions;
c) do not perform other activities while taking the survey.
It is very important that you comply with the instructions as not doing so can undermine your results and therefore the whole survey's results which can mislead science.

Participation in these studies is entirely voluntary and you are under no obligation to take part. If you decide to take part you are still free to withdraw at any time and without giving a reason.
All data will be collected and stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. All responses are treated as confidential, and in no case will responses from individual participants be identified. Rather, all data will be pooled and published in aggregate form only.
This study has been approved by the UCL Research Ethics Committee CPB2014/004 and is being conducted by Filipa Almeida under the supervision of Dr. Ana Guinote (firstname.lastname@example.org).
No deception is involved and the study involves no more than minimal risk to participants (i.e., the level of risk encountered in daily life). Many individuals find participation in this study enjoyable, and no adverse reactions have been reported thus far.
Everyone above 18 years old, fluent in the english language and agrees to participate is welcome to complete the study, although there will be no credit or monetary compensation.
